Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh chairs ECC meeting
ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue and Economic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh chaired Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting today. Different proposals for economic stability were under view in the meeting.
Power division recommendation to increase power supply to Karachi in concern of electricity shortage was approved. ECC endorse to add 150 MW of power through national grid to K-Electric (KE). The whole of 800 MW would be provided to Karachi.
Other than Karachi, tribal areas of ex-Fata had the lack of electricity. ECC agreed to grant an additional subsidy of Rs.1.8 billion to Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) only for the month of Ramzan.
National Food Security and Research’s Secretary briefed about the wheat stocks available in the state.
Secretary of NFCR Ministry concise, wheat obtaining was conducted by Punjab Government and PASSCO.
The ECC also acceded to the Earthquake redevelopment and Rehabilitation Authority’s proposal by providing tax exemption to initiatives under the Saudi Development Grant Fund.
Committee approved the proposed procurement target of the wheat crop for the year 2018-19 to the tune of 5.15 million tons with a financial limit of Rs.158.5 billion.
The Committee also approved Technical Supplementary and Supplementary Grants for different Ministries/Divisions.
