‘PSL-4 do-or-die clash’, United beats Kings by 4 wkts
Islamabad United won by four wickets and ousted Karachi Kings from Pakistan Super League-4. United scored 164 runs as they were given target of 162 runs to win.
Kings sealed their possible victory when its players dropped four catches at crucial juncture during play.
To chase target of 162 to thrash Karachi Kings, Islamabad United opened batting with Ronchi and Delport. On 19 runs, Ronchi was out after scoring 5 runs (9 balls) on bowling of Yamin.
United lost second wicket when Delport was out scoring 38 runs (27 balls) bowling by Umar. Hales joined his partner. Third wicket of Walton scoring naught went down again victim of Umar. Next was Talat at crease.
On tally of 114 runs, United lost fourth wicket when Hales was out on ball of Yamin scoring 41 runs in 42 balls. Asif then joined Talat. Shinwari claimed fifth wicket of United when Talat lost wicket, scoring 32 runs in 19 balls. Fahim lost wicket on ball of Amir, scoring 17 runs in 8 balls. Fahim and Shadab steered United to victory in last over. Hales was declared man of the match.
Batting first after winning toss, Karachi Kings against Islamabad United in elimination stage match started inning in firm style.
Babar Azam and Colin Munro opened inning. Their partnership lasted to 52 runs when Munro after scoring 32 runs was caught behind on ball of Muhammad Musa in fourth over.
Livingstone then joined Azam. Hundred came in 10th over for Kings. Livingstone was next to go back to pavilion after scoring 30 runs in 25 balls.
Colin Ingram was new batsman at crease. Babar Azam was out after scoring 42 runs in 32 balls by Roman on tally of 108. Dunk was next joining Ingram. Ingram was out on individual score of 23 (14) on ball of Musa. Imad joined Dunk.
Iftikhar was new man but after scoring one run in 2 balls he was out on Musa’s ball. Next was Dunk who lost wicket scoring 12 runs on ball of Fahim Ashraf. Then Yamin joined Imad. Yamin was run out by Sami, the bowler. At this stage Kings were 151 for seven.
Amir was next man came at crease but lost wicket scoring 2 ran out. Umar was bowled by Fahim on zero when team’s tally was 158. Shinwari was next at crease. In 20 overs, Kings scored 161 for nine wickets.
