Parliament can’t function without opposition: Firdaus Ashiq
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Firdaus Ashiq Awan said that democracy and parliament cannot function up to its potential without opposition members.
Awan in a brief press talk after a session at Bani Gala said that opposition shouldn’t hijack parliament and expressed her desire that the opposition presents recommendation to government.
She said that PM has given a few targets to new economic team and has given all powers to the Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh, adding that he has advised the team to bring down inflation.
Responding to a question, advisor said that former finance minister Asad Umar holds no grievances with government and will soon join the Cabinet.
“He will be back soon and will be defending the vision of PM Imran,” she said.
Advisor said that Fawad Chaudhry wasn’t able to attend meeting as he was in Lahore but will soon be present in the meetings to come of spokespersons.
She said that Omar Ayub has been given an additional charge of petroleum.
