Nawaz Files Petition in SC Seeking to Void IHC’s Verdict
Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has prayed Supreme Court (SC) to annul Islamabad High Court (IHC)’s verdict in which IHC turned down bail plea of Nawaz on medical grounds.
Nawaz Sharif counsel, Khawaja Haris submitted a plea in SC requesting to review IHC verdict in which, according to petition, IHC did not consider points of petitioner while exercising powers given in law on February 25.
“We think IHC did not keep in view, parameters of law in connection with bail as health facilities available in hospital were not adequate, in result treatment of his client not yet started,” stated in petition.
In petition, SC was further requested, bail plea to be accepted by annulling sentence in Al-Azizia Still Mills case as Nawaz was in jail and has been suffering with multiple health problems.
Earlier, IHC bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani on February 25 dismissed Nawaz’s petition seeking bail and suspension of his seven-year sentence on medical grounds.
