Maryam Nawaz reveals video, says judge was blackmailed in issuing judgment in Al-Azizia Case
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President, Maryam Nawaz has claimed that we have solid evidences that Nawaz Sharif was victimized by the courts in fake corruption cases.
While addressing a press conference along with PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, she played a secret video which revealed a meeting between a party worker [Nasir Butt] and the accountability judge.
Maryam claimed that the Judge Malik had pointed out the flaws in Nawaz’s corruption trial and acknowledged that he had been “blackmailed” and “pressured” into issuing a judgement against the PML-N.
She claimed that Judge Malik told Nasir that he had been taken to an unspecified place by some people — whom Maryam did not name — who left him alone in a room and played for him a “personal” video of his on a TV screen nearby. Maryam refused to disclose what was in the alleged video, but claimed this video of an “immoral” nature was used to “blackmail” the judge into issuing an adverse judgement against Nawaz.
In the video clip whereby accountability judge Arshad Malik could be heard saying that there was “no proof of corruption against the deposed premier” in the December 24 Al-Azizia reference.
“No evidence that a single penny has been shifted from Pakistan. No evidence of shifting any money by accused from Pakistan,” Maryam translated the judge as saying from the video.
“No evidence of any embezzlement of funds by Hussain in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia,” she further quoted the judge from the video.
Maryam Nawaz demanded acquittal of Nawaz Sharif after evidences shown in video, adding that she respects every institution of Pakistan.
Maryam said Nawaz attended every hearing but said I leave my destiny to Almighty Allah after he was disappointed from the proceedings.
She said that 3 times prime minister was put in jail at the age of 70 by a trial court.
She said corruption allegations were made on Nawaz Sharif but no proves were shown, adding that everyone knows this is not accountability but victimization.
She said I had promised to people that I will not let Nawaz become Morsi. She said I had told public that I will go till the hilt for Nawaz Sharif. She further said after this presser my life is also in danger.
In December 2017, an accountability court sentenced former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to seven-year rigorous imprisonment after it found him guilty in Al-Azizia reference, one of the three graft cases filed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in line with the apex court order.
