Indian pilot arrives at Wagah Border on his release
WAGAH: Amid tight security, Indian pilot has arrived at Wagah Border where he would be handed over to Indian officials.
Pakistan captured Indian Air Force pilot, Abhinandan Varthaman and today as a goodwill gesture pilot was going to be handed over to Indian Border security personnel.
Move to release Indian pilot was announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan on floor of joint session of Parliament, a day after Pakistan shot down two Indian aircraft that had crossed Line of Control.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi earlier today confirmed Wing Commander Abhinandan would be handed back to Indian officials.
Wagah crossing gate is famed for hosting elaborate daily ceremony by Indian and Pakistani border security forces at sundown. Thousands of people gathered on Indian side early Friday morning to welcome pilot home.
