Teenage boy tortured to death by citizens over alleged robbery
KARACHI: A teenage boy lost his life on Saturday after he was tortured over accusations of stealing from a bungalow in Karachi’s Bahadurabad neighbourhood.
According to police, two suspected teenage robbers attempted to enter a bungalow near Kokan Ground in Bahadurabad.
The security guard in the area caught 17-year-old Rehan while the other suspected robber managed to escape.
But the owner of the bungalow and his neighbours tied the young boy by the hands and beat him up.
A video circulating on social media showed Rehan tied to a metallic grill by the hands as the owners and others questioned him. The boy can be heard naming his accomplices in the video, which was recorded by the owner and area residents.
Pictures of the minor boy’s dead body showed signs of torture.
Meanwhile, Rehan’s father told reporters that his son worked as a butcher during Eid-ul-Azha. He said Rehan told him he was going to collect money for his work, but never returned home.
Police have arrested Daniyal, the owner of the bungalow, and his friend Zubair in connection with the murder.
Police said they were carrying out further investigation into the incident.
