Jewelry removed from the stomach of the patient: Egypt
Egypt: A team of doctors removed various items, including spoons, forks and jewelry, from the stomach of a mental patient after a two-hour operation.
A 20-year-old man was brought to Al-Mansura University medical center with severe abdominal pain. Essential inspections and x-rays revealed that the patient’s stomach contained gold rings and chains in addition to the items used in the kitchen.
The patient underwent immediate operation and removed 20 spoonfuls and thorns, six tooth brushes, a gold ring and several chains and some strange objects from his intestines. According to the team of doctors, the young man had swallowed these things in the last 6 months.
The patient’s mother knew of several items in the kitchen and some of her ornaments missing, but did not know that these items were swallowed by her son. The head of the medical team said that the patient’s condition was stable after the operation.
