12-year-old boy killed in crossfire between police, alleged criminal in Karachi
KARACHI: A 12-year-old boy was killed when he sustained a bullet wound on his head in an exchange of fire between police personnel and a suspected criminal in Karachi’s Quaidabad area late on Friday.
According to police, a suspect Sher Zaman opened fire on two police officials in Sherpao Colony. In ensuing exchange of fire, both policemen as well as suspect received injuries.
Two boys were also caught in crossfire. They were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where one of injured, named Sajjad, succumbed to his wounds while other boy was said to be out of danger.
Suspect, who sustained a bullet wound on his leg, was taken into custody.
After medical examination, boy’s body was handed over to his heirs. Body was brought back to Quaidabad where his funeral prayer was offered after which he laid to rest.
